Amateur Radio

Amateur radio is a terrific hobby and can be a lot of fun communicating to different people from around the world. There are over 600,000 radio operators in the USA alone. Today with amateur repeaters connected to the internet, one can talk to amateur operators in different countries with a uhf or vhf handheld radio. The first transceiver I purchased after receiving my license was a used Kenwood TS-830s. I also own a Radio Shack HTX-10 and an Icom 718. There is a move to software defined radios but for now I am not too interested in these, but it is one of the ways the hobby is advancing!
